NetInsight Wordpress plugin (not official)

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 3:45pm 1 Comment

Hello Everyone,

*Disclaimer: this post has nothing to do with my official job*

One of my pet peeves of having a Wordpress blog is that all the plugins for web analytics are vendor specific. While I could write some super elaborate 'all vendor friendly' plugin, it would take more time than I can commit. So, I've whipped together in the past day or two a NetInsight specific Wordpress plugin.

It is a version 1.0.0 release and is certainly not…

More good news for NetInsight customers!

Folks have been asking for a way to make sure that their NetInsight tags are implemented correctly (on every page, correct variable data, easy to understand variable names, etc..) but thus far customers have been left to their own devices to ensure these aspects.

There are numerous solutions on the market, and many of them are fantastic, yet few/if any of them are FREE and fantastic!…

Chris it looks like Ning borked the string you pasted in, I think you were looking to add:

*less than* defaults role="_noaccess" view="_default" reportingmode="full"/ *greater than*

*less than* should be replaced with br /> *greater than* should be replaced with >

Wendy,

Here are the steps I took to set up a "no access" default role on all created profiles.

Go to your \program files\netinsight\data\admin\ folder and open "web.cfg"
Look for "" and on the line above it insert the following line:

All new profiles after that will have this setting by default.

Hello OMLee,

You mentioned on Twitter that you have detailed instructions for the "no access" request. The issue is that as an agency we frequently set up new profiles for new websites. Every new profile defaults as available to everyone. If a busy team member forgets the crucial step of setting the profile visibility to "no access" then we are left with a serious security/privacy issue. All other web analytic applications default to "no access" from the start and you have to explicitly give out access rights. NetInsight seems to be the only one that does this the other way around.

Regards,
Wendy
