"An old thread... but for others who may reference this... Lee is spot on, and in case it helps to have working JS instead of his pseudo-code I am attaching some."

"Hello Angie, You are correct that the approach is very similar. Without heavy coding, here is a link to an example of how this would be done using GA.  …"

Angie Brown replied to Arthur Bull's discussion Tracking Wordpress Blog Entries
"Hi Art, You should be able to use the same NI tags from your main site on the Wordpress blogs. I don't know if there's a global footer that crosses all the blogs, or whether you'll have to find the footer of each blog, but it should…"

If so, care to share your experience? I asked Google and found some info about doing it in YWA and GA but little else. I suspect their methodologies can be used with Unica tags, but before I go trying to figure it out (I'm not much of a coder) I thought I'd see if anyone here has an example. While we're at it, I'm interested in tracking other types of embedded video as well (without the ability to edit the Flash itself). Any ideas are welcome. Thanks,AngieSee More

Angie Brown replied to Nick Kitching's discussion Content Groups and Referrers
"Hi Nick. On Demand just means that Unica hosts the NetInsight database and interface instead of your own IT department (then it's called On Premise). So if you access NetInsight through a URL provided by Unica, then you're an On Demand…"

Angie Brown replied to Nick Kitching's discussion Content Groups and Referrers
"If you're On Demand, have your TAM expose the page referrer (parameter value for RefURL). I think it'll only be going-forward, but in any case you'll be able to see the referring URLs for each of your content groups. You can…"

Angie Brown replied to Dave Severino's discussion Export with "Data to Export" set to "All of the Data"
"In your Report Designer, set the grouping option to "Not Grouped". This puts each dim1/dim2/.../dimN on its own row, so when you export all the data, you really get all the data. Otherwise, as Bob says, you'll only get all the rows…"

Angie Brown replied to Angie Brown's discussion On Demand? Or On Premise?
"Hi Bob. I'm doing OD because I didn't want the hardware costs or the IT headaches. Mine is probably an extreme case, though, since I'm well up over 100 profiles now. We've had some performance issues with OD -- I'm not sure…"

Robert Russotti replied to Angie Brown's discussion On Demand? Or On Premise?
"Hi Angie, We have 16 profiles on premise. I've been thinking about going on demand because it might be easier to stay on the latest release. We went to NI 8.0.0.3 but it required a lot of support. I'd be interested to hear from others…"

Angie Brown replied to Domenico Tassone's discussion Referral Counting in NI vs. GA with Paid Search Present

Web analytics -- beyond optimization presentation for Unica MIS 2009

I was fortunate to be able to present at Unica's Marketing Innovation Summit this week. The summit was a blast, I met lots of interesting people and heard interesting talks, and I'm excited that the NetInsight customer base keeps growing and growing!

I've attached my presentation in case anyone is interested.

Don't forget to modify your search engine definitions

Posted on June 4, 2009 at 3:30pm 2 Comments

Within the past couple of months, there have been two major changes in the search engine market that can affect your data:

1. Google changed the URLs that will appear in your Referrer reports and are used for keyword parsing. Unfortunately, the URL they use is one that is explicitly excluded in NetInsight's default keyword definitions. If you're an On Demand customer, Unica has already made this modification for you. If you're On Premise, you've probably received a communication… Continue
